college is somewhat killing me, i have so much to do these days. though, having the time of my life. my final year project, as you know, changed from being on painting and portraits, to being a fashion inspired project ending with 9 different shoots where each symbolises its own personality type. i've done some more. with a friend from norway, helle. absolutely gorgeous girl. very happy with the results. hope you like them!

after many months of trying to figure out what i want to do for my final year project at griffith college, i finally figured it out, with a lot of help from my housemates, man, and lectures. i am doing nine different fashion series where each will be inspired by one of nine personality type. i'm doing my first shoot tomorrow. so i went on a walk today to do some recon, which, in reality, was finding the location. my housemante bitte knew of the perfect park. so that's all done then. the model will be the lovely carina. photos from the recon today. the shoot is going to be dark and somewhat edgy. looking forward to it alot.

and in other news i got all my grades back. passed my exam with 66%, which means i ended up with a 66% overall (a b). for my people project i got 82% overall (an a), and for video i got a staggering 87% (also an a), which makes me a very, very happy person. now i just need to kill it this semester as well.

i'm in the midst of being filmed for a documentary, so all my brainpower is consumed into that; in depth questions about nothing i know and somewhat forced creativity. but it will be fine, once i find something to hold onto in my head which fits the theme. on another note i did my first stencil work tonight. on a (very hidden) wall i sprayed up "this is what i feared all along". quite pleased. but need to go back tomorrow to touch up the last e in feared, as i somewhat fucked that up.

I said and threw an especially nice yellow balloon up right in front of her. But she wouldn't listen. Before, when I didn't have any of this, it seemed exciting, she said. But when it fills up your whole day it's just tiresome. She walked to the door and opened it. You just have to want it more! I yelled and let go of a balloon so it flew up into the ceiling. She shook her head and closed the door. I grabbed the trumpet and ran out on the veranda. This was my last chance.

spent most of today writing an essay for politics of the image, a class in college. very hard subject at first, but now that i got the hang of it, i might enjoy it more from now on. the task was to analyse three images/texts in a semiotic way, focusing on roland barthes theory of myth, which how history has imposed itself on something and made it into something considered natural. also had to address the denotative and connotative in the texts. i know this makes no sense, but it does to me. so high-five to myself!

i might also change my "the morning hours" series from black and white to colour. undecided, though.

i just got back from a 24 hour trip to oslo. went over to celebrate my friend stine's birthday. she had a party at her place, and it turned out absolutely great. the people there were great. i didn't know alot of them, but managed anyway. got to know some new people and just hung out in general. drank cava though, which makes me slightly weird. was told to check out some new music. kasper, from i see horses, has a norwegian project called kasper & lensmannskontoret. it's pretty great. i also have a shoot planned for december now. and i decided to spend new years in dublin, rather than oslo.

when i left norway i knew what a hipster was, a hipster was, well, almost me. only with fake glasses and weirder taste in music. hipster.no was recently launched, and apparently a hipster is not a hipster anymore. in reply to the website, i wrote this email, which i didn't send. mainly because that would be too rude. here is the email:

Or rather, about the name for the website, hipster.no

According to the definition of what a hipster is, we can say the following: "Hipster is a slang term that first appeared in the 1940s, and was revived in the 1990s and 2000s often to describe types of young, recently settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers with interests in non-mainstream fashion and culture, particularly alternative music, indie rock, independent film, magazines such as Vice and Clash, and websites like Pitchfork Media.[1]"

With this I want to you to, particularly notice the sentence: "recently settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers with interests in non-mainstream ..."

Accordingly we can say that a hipster is a person who dresses fashionable, but not in Marc Jacobs or Jenny Skavlan's BikBok collection, but more Acne and vintage shoes they bought for 25 euros in Copenhagen (please note that the shoes actually cost about 300 euro). They listen to music no one else listen to: the fewer the better (again, please note that no one listen to them because they are musically lacking in everything).

So, my problem with the name of the website is then as following: the website doesn't show any hipsters. None of which we can find on smug.no or lookatthatfuckinghipster.com. With this I would like to request a change in name. Examples may be westofoslo.no, borninbærum.no, solliplassftw.no or hipper.no. This way you can let hipster be hipsters and the cool and hip hang out in their hip, overpriced clubs listening to Calvin Harris. Or to put it in a simpler way. Not anywhere close to anything remotely hipster-ish:

got a visitor from norway over, tony. been having a good time going out, hanging out and walking about. was at city disk the other day and bought bon iver - blood bank on vinyl. i had it framed and put on my wall. first thing on my walls. luckily my parents and sister are coming down next week, and they'll be bringing some of my bags which hold most of my pictures and things. looking forward to getting that, and seeing my folks of course. the best parents in the world. and the best sister of course.

been working on my homework as well. i got a couple of ideas on what to do with both my video project and my people project. just have to start my visual diary and work book. i also booked my tattoo appointment for my half sleeve. bleedin' wrappin (or whatever).

my studies at griffith college, dublin, are set to start on the 30th of august. there will be a three week long international student introduction guide to different things. suppose that means to teach us what we don't know and show us around. should be fun. getting a bit scared now though. doesn't seem so far away now.
above photo is from a music video production i took part in. i was wearing my highest heals running around in the forrest, as well as enjoying a lovely tea party in uno's (the musician) grandmothers yard. quite the experience. got through it with no less than seventeen mosquito bites.

i went to aarhus last week. this is what ended up in my sketchbook.

we drove far too long and nearly missed our boat. thanks to a pedophile old man, we got on. after a bit of stroking. the boat ride was boring. very much so. but we made it across and continued on. at 00:00 am we were finally there. two glasses of wine and we fell asleep in an oversized bed. we slept for a long time and spent the following day looking for a knitted jumper with cool printing. we couldn't fine one. unfortunately. not even shoes. then we drank and drove home.

got this link from somewhere but i didn't check it out untill today. it's a great band from oxford called trophy wife. i tried googling them for some more info, but all i found was a scary band consisting of four bi-curious looking men. anyway. trophy wife sounds (according to them) like ambitionless office disco, inspired by lava lamps, tango in the night, and lee van cleef. to me this is the kind of music you hear playing in your head when you're drunk out of your mind, not sure whether your eyes are open or closed. at work listening to i see horses on the radio playing an ukulele version of take on me, which is suprisingly good.

saw them playing this weekend, at a fairtrade event at blå. along with director's cut, du and leif and the drum machine. i enjoyed myself alot, and so did my sister who was there with me. this is my fifth or something time seeing i see horses. now, i may be a bit biassed in my "review" of the show, seeing as i have a couple of songs i think are very good (animals and bring out the marchers). they played neither, which i understand considering the crowd, but i still find it a bit disappointing. they did, however, play two new songs. amongst them was an upbeat dancy tune, which i thought was great. just took me a bit by surprise i think, but it was definetly a sound i think suited them as a band.
other than this they played both songs from the old ep (selftitled) and from their newest ep (has my stealth been in vain). overall i enjoyed myself, and by the looks of it so did the audience. i even saw someone dance!

i have a sketch book i doodle ideas in. over the last five years i've probably plowed through seven of these, but in the recent years i think my ideas have gotten clearer and i've gotten better at taping other photographs in for inspiration.above are some ideas for shoots i might have. the stair one i'm doing on monday the tenth. should be fun. the other one isn't set, but hopefully i'll be able to do it sometime.yesterday i had a photoshoot. of director's cut. in a garden next to the house they rehearse in. it went quite well. i'm going to start editing in twenty minutes or so. the picture is going to be somewhat in the same color scheme as the photo of foals.and my tattoo sketch is finally done! it's going to be a half sleeve with a pink rose, a polaroid, rain clouds, angry ocean, a city and birds flying in the sky.

i miss new york now. more than anything. in a sense it might just be me getting the travel itch again. which i do too often now-a-days.

weekend was great. saw four bands play, and had an amazing time at get dancy on saturday. i have a band shoot this wednesday and next monday. the upcoming weekend will be quite slow though. my sister's coming to visit, and i'm taking her to a fairtrade concert thing on saturday. with her being 16 means no drinks on me! Only ice cream and ecological coke. maybe some green tea with honey; sugar if i feel rebelious.

i've started working more on my sketchbook lately, which means some scans are coming up soon. the writing is in norwegian, but oh well. i'm also working on a poster for a movie thing this june. i don't know if i like it. but i'll be able to make another one. just have to hand this one in. need to find an a3 printer. and a white crayon, and it should be done.

friday, last week, we were out drinking beer. i went to see nils bech play, then headed back to my friends. they were at this point at a karaoke bar. the rest is history.

yesterday i was at my first football match in a pub. i saw bayern munchen - lyon. my team is bayern munchen. (not that i really like football, but at least i'm trying to be interested in sports.) we won 3 - 0. which made me remember why i don't like football; i always feel so bad for the losing team. i also made this today. i thought it might make me seem more like a football fan.

yesterday i saw and so i watch you from afar live, and it was absolutely great. the energy was incredible. one of the best things was that they were much more math live than what comes through on their album. there were also four awesome russ there. i wanted to give them high fives for having such a great taste in music.

yesterday i baked muffins for four hours. they turned out great, so i'm quite happy. brought thirty of them to work today where i'll go around and share with everyone. i don't really like eating them myself. i just like looking cute with an apron and feeling older than i am.

yesterday me and a friend (stine) were sitting at mono having a few beers when a girl from revolver comes walking in with some posters to hang. she hangs it up, and leaves. half a hour later a guy from rockefeller comes in and hangs a poster over the one just hung up. he hung up a poster for pony the pirate. now, i quickly noticed that there was something wrong with it. something just didn't look right.it took a while, but i finally saw what was wrong. the guy on the left has six fucking fingers! kind of strange. either the photographer has done it on purpose in photoshop, done something wrong, or the guy simply has six fingers. well, seven fingers actually, if you count a thumb hiding behing his thigh. anyway. strange.

on the twelfth of september 2010 i am moving to dublin, if things go according to plan. might leave a week before that to find an appartment and find an ikea to buy frying pans and purple and pink butterfly shaped pillows. and other essencial things. like cheap vanilla scented candles and waving golden cats.

this weekend i was at a couple of concerts. band of horses, no kids and mount eerie. they were all great. mount eerie blew my mind away.
